Integrevise for the University of the Built Environment

Make authentic understanding easier to evidence online.

UBE is strengthening authentic, industry-relevant assessment across a wholly online university. Integrevise adds a five-to-ten-minute adaptive discussion grounded in each submission, brief, rubric and learning outcomes, creating reviewable evidence of understanding without AI detection or a live discussion for every student.

One practical evidence layer

Support authentic assessment without adding a live viva to every submission.

Integrevise works from materials teaching teams already use. It creates a structured opportunity for explanation while academic judgment remains with the university.

For UBE

Protect confidence in flexible online awards.

Add direct evidence of how part-time, employed and apprentice learners connect academic knowledge with built-environment practice.

For academics

Review explanation without adding live vivas.

Use existing briefs and rubrics to focus attention on the submissions that need closer academic review while judgement remains with UBE.

For students

Show the thinking behind applied work.

Give learners a fair opportunity to explain professional choices, reflect on feedback and demonstrate understanding in their own words.

Early evidence, clearly bounded

A practical approach with preliminary university evidence.

A published, multi-cycle study at one private US liberal-arts college offers preliminary qualitative evidence that post-submission oral verification can surface comprehension gaps and implementation issues. It does not establish broad efficacy or scalability.

Authentic assessment in supported online learning

UBE is diversifying assessment. Student explanation can make that evidence clearer.

UBE’s July 2025 Degree Outcomes Statement describes coursework, portfolios, practical and project assessment; an Assessment Steering Group supporting authentic programme-level design; and greater use of presentations, posters and short-answer questions. It also identifies generative AI as an assessment challenge being addressed through authentic learning and a clear AI policy.

Integrevise complements that direction with a consistent record of what a student can explain after submission. It keeps UBE’s marking, moderation and support processes intact while making reasoning easier for academic teams to review.
